Prepare a | |report which incorporates the following: | | | |A situation analysis for the organisation to 2011 which identifies and assesses both external, competitive and internal factors, current stakeholder | |influences and business strategies. The report should highlight key issues and influences affecting the organisation and its future development. Your | |information should be up-to-date and take into account current and future drivers for change in the organisation’s environment. Sources of information must | |be clearly identified and you should be able to evidence your assessment of the organisation’s position. |Using appropriate modelling tools, identify the strategic options available to the organisation which clearly illustrate the bases of strategy, direction and| |potential methods which could be adopted. Evaluate these using appropriate techniques and select a strategy, giving justifications and taking into account | |the core values of the organisation and the resource implications of your choice. | |Based on the above, prepare a 5 year development strategy and implementation plan. You should develop a mission statement with clear strategic objectives as| |well as an outline strategy plan for the 5 years. You should also include a more detailed implementation plan for the 1st year. Opportunities for | |monitoring and review should be indicated as well as any contingency measures.

You | |should use and apply appropriate tools and techniques including STEEPLE, Porter’s 5 Forces, Strategic Groups, GE matrix and the market perception of their | |position in the market place. You should also consider the resources and capabilities and core competences of the organisation, demonstrating | |understanding of the effectiveness of current business plans, corporate culture and a stakeholder profile. | | | |Given the level of information required to include within the report to complete this part of the task, you are advised to capture the situation analysis | |through a SWOT analysis in which you highlight the key issues facing the organisation.

These should be described in relation| |to the models such as Porter’s Generic Strategies, Bowman’s Strategy Clock and demonstrate understanding of the role of the corporate parent, strategic | |direction (eg Ansoffs) and methods.
You should consider the core values of the organisation including approaches to corporate and social responsibility | |and current business plans. Evaluate these on the basis of Suitability, Feasibility and Acceptability illustrating your use of the appropriate tools. | |Select your strategy giving the reasons for your decision. | | | |Task 3: Strategic Development Plan | |Based on your choice of strategy, write a mission statement and SMART objectives which will provide the framework for the plan. Prepare an outline | |development plan for five years illustrating how you intend to achieve the identified objectives.
